Artist's Statement
As a member of a generation who, as children, lived through the
war in Bosnia in the 1990s, Adela Ju¨i investigates ways to deal
with this post-war trauma. Recently Ju¨i has been exploring the
rules and laws, limits and freedoms, purposes and needs, of the
generic "artist's statement". Her work for Manifesta 8 explores this
formula-based, instrumentalised practice. In a two-channel video
installation, the artist is filmed as she raises questions about her
persona and these issues, including her instructions for how to
write an artist's statement.
